Ever imagined the amalgamation of Biblical stories and Justin Biebers music. Well, the students of Island Trees High School setout a new idea of making this a reality.

Godspell, thats what the play is known as was performed by the schools Drama club. Godspell is a modern initiation in the arena of music by Stephen Schwartz and JohnMichael Tebelak. The passion of the Christ was also expressed at the end of the show.Popular chartbusters which were embodied in the play were Dynamite by Taio Cruz and Justin Biebers Baby.

That is how we saw this whole show as a team effort, Director Stephan Connolly said. I think it really worked out and made the show more relevant and more connected to the people today. It was my kind of play random, weird, absolutely nuts and fun, said senior Colton Murray, 17, who portrayed the selfnamed character of Colton in the production. This is the one thing I am going to miss about this school.

The cast members moved around into the audience singing, dancing and interacting with them. The overwhelmed audience went on to the stage singing and dancing to the prepare Yenumber.I think it went excellent, said junior Daniel Freeda, 16, who played the role of Jesus. Everything was perfect the pit band was great, the lighting was perfect and the crowd was really into it. My heart and soul is in this drama club, we have gone through thick and thin. he further added.

Director Connolly said that the rehearsals for the show were started in the last week of january and the dedication and enthusiasm put by the students had helped in overcoming the initial obstacles and said that they were able to ironout it all and came out with a perfect product. Its amazing. I came here everyday for the past three months and just being able to watch them get better at it, learn and grow we are like a giant dysfunctional family so it has been a lot of fun, junior stage crew member Colleen Sheehy said.

At the end of the show, all the audience including the students gave a standing applause and presented gifts to Connolly, Olsen Helmold and Musical Director Gregory Warnokowski in appreciation of their dedication to the drama club. While saying Good bye to the Island Trees High School, Connolly delivered a heartfelt thank you and applauded everyone involved in the school and production of Godspell.Everyone has been wonderful and welcoming, he stated. Sometimes in life paths change and things go, but you guys will always be in my heart. I thank you for this opportunity.

The students put on the show exclusively for local Senior citizens on thursday and to the general public on friday and saturday. Seeing the response Connolly added Honestly, I couldnt have been prouder,They exceeded all of our expectations, but with there dedication I knew they were going to be able to pull it off.
